Is Chiropractic Care Dangerous?

Who is the most dangerous health care provider?

AKA: Those in Glass Houses Should Not Throw Bricks!

Recently, we have seen an uptick in fear mongering by other health professions directed at our patients who receive chiropractic care.

According to the insurance industry, Chiropractic has the lowest malpractice rates of any health care provider, including dentists.

Here is a list from Google of malpractice rates by specialty.

High-Risk / Surgical Specialties

  • Neurosurgery: $150,000 – $210,000+
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN): $75,000 – $250,000+ (highly dependent on obstetric procedural exposure)
  • Orthopedic Surgery: $50,000 – $120,000
  • General Surgery: $30,000 – $93,000

Moderate-Risk Specialties

  • Emergency Medicine: $12,000 – $46,000
  • Cardiology: $15,000 – $35,000
  • Anesthesiology: $12,000 – $25,000
  • Physiatrists: $5,000 and $12,000
  • Dental Specialists:  $10,000 – $25,000
  • Radiology: $10,000 – $20,000

Low-Risk / Primary Care Specialties

  • Internal Medicine: $5,000 – $25,000
  • Family Medicine: $5,000 – $15,000
  • Pediatrics: $5,000 – $20,000
  • Dermatology: $4,000 – $15,100
  • Psychiatry: $2,600 – $15,000 (consistently the lowest-cost medical specialty)
  • General Dentists: $2000-$6000
  • Chiropractor: $1000 -$3500

The next time anyone tries to spread fear about going to a chiropractor, ask them, “SHOW ME THE DATA!”

“I was majoring in chemistry at Villanova University when my path turned to chiropractic. I was going on interviews to be a pharmaceutical sales representative, and they always asked me what I wanted to be doing in five years. My answer was always the same: “I want to be helping people, enjoying my work, while making a difference.”
