Flu Prevention: Vitamin D Works Best!

The verdict is in. If you want a safe, effective and healthy way to reduce your chances of getting flu this winter, take your vitamin D. The avalanche of data that is coming out shows that vitamin D is your number one choice to stay off the flu disabled list.

As most of you know your body makes vitamin D through exposure to the sun. However, most of us here in Boston only allow our noses to be exposed to the sun during the winter and that will not get you near enough vitamin D from the sun.

The best way for people to ensure that you are getting enough is to supplement. I personally take up to 6,000 IU per day. Don’t worry you are getting too much, because your body makes about 20,000 IU in 20 minutes in the sun when soaking up rays in your bathing suit. The only side effect you will have if you take enough is to decrease your risk of cancer.

This link is connected to a 35 page research summary that reviews several research articles that drive home the point, you need to take vitamin D to keep healthy.

Go get your vitamin D today, you will be glad you did. Give it to the kids as well. (2000 IU per day)

P.S. I have given you links to Dr. Mercola and Dr. Eisenstein’s websites and their vitamin D info. Read it today.

P.S.S. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

“I was majoring in chemistry at Villanova University when my path turned to chiropractic. I was going on interviews to be a pharmaceutical sales representative, and they always asked me what I wanted to be doing in five years. My answer was always the same: “I want to be helping people, enjoying my work, while making a difference.”
